    Meet the Quartz Phyllite

The character and the value of modern and historic buildings lie in the quality of their materials, and we are convinced that no other stone is more versatile and noble than the Quartz Phyllite. This is the stone from our quarries in Bernardos (Spain), a world-class slate for its high quartz content, durability and strength. We invite you to discover some of our projects to understand why we have passion for this incredible material:

    One stone, infinite possibilities

The Quartz Phyllite is unique owing to its durability and the diverse finishes that it offers, giving an extraordinary freedom in the design of new habitats and the refurbishment of heritage buildings. This noble material has been used since the XVI Century in the finest arrchitectural expressions, but its only now that we can enjoy all the beauty of its veins thanks to the latest cuting and polishing technology introduced by MyS. The new finishes achieve impressive textures and colours that can combine in floors, walls, façades, bathrooms and roofs.

    Natural texture

    Riven

The Quartz Phyllite can be split using traditional tools thanks to formation planes that took more than 300 million years in the making. The sugerent rugosity of this natural finish makes it ideal for roofs, floors, pavements and walls. See projects here

    Polished

    Polished

The Quartz Phyllite is the only slate in the world that admits the finest level of polishing to extract all the power of its quartz veins. MyS is pioneer in this technique, which is perfect in façades, walls, floors or bathrooms. See projects here

    Sawed

    Sawn

Millions of small diamonds are needed to cut the Quartz Phyllite and the result is a caracteristic gray color with subtle white veins. These confer an intrinsic strength to flexure and abrassion that makes this material very valued in public spaces. See projects here

    Split face tiles

Our split-face walls are carefully arranged to give a characteristic rugosity. They can be designed in different colors. See projects here

    Cobbles

    Cobbles

We produce Quartz Phyllite cobbles in a variety of dimensions and finishes. The result is perfect for paving public spaces. See projects here

    Roof tiles

    Roof tiles

The Quartz Phyllite roof tiles are 1 cm thick and have a characteristic plumb-like grey color, as the ones used in heritage buildings. See our roof works here

    Aged texture

    Aged texture

The aged-finish texture is one of our latest innovations. This special polishing confers the stone additional toughness and a precious rugosity that resembles the ocean waves. This material is ideal for interior and exterior spaces. See projects here

    Multicolor Bernardos' slate

    Multi-colour Bernardos slate

Thanks to the slow action of water through the special geological formations in Bernardos, our Multi-colour slate presents a unique range of warm orange, red and gray colours that combines perfectly with their natural texture. See projects here
